Solid Wood Flooring
As the name suggest, this is solid wood the whole way through. Generally, these floors are quite unforgiving, and certainly cant work with under floor heating and are problematic with properties that require noise reduction, as solid floors must be fixed to a dry, level and rigid sub floor base. Junckers flooring are the manufacturer who have bucked the trend of solid floors being too difficult to work with, so there are certainly solid floor products out there that can work with most sites, but they can be quite costly. The main benefit to solid wood flooring is the thickness of real wood all way through, and the floors ability to be sanded back more times than any other flooring surface.
Engineered Wood Flooring
This is the product dominating the wood floor market. A product that only has a top veneer of real wood, ranging from 0.5mm to 6mm, depending on the total thickness of the floor, and the base of the floor is made up of soft wood and ply. The make up of this floor allows it to be used like a carpet, installing onto underlays for noise or moisture issues, and can be used over under floor heating due to the way its manufactured. The real beauty of engineered wood isn’t just the adaptability to most site conditions, it’s the sheer options of colours and sizes available, but don’t waste your time looking, just ask us and we will source the perfect product for you. Remember, engineered floors can only be sanded a certain amount of times, depending on the thickness of the veneer, so always ask what the lifespan of the floor you are interested in has.
Carpets
We can supply only or supply and install all types, styles and makes of carpets. This service includes the removal of the old carpet, new underlays, grippers, stair rods – whatever is needed, and we carry all the major suppliers. Laminate
Laminate flooring is a synthetic floor covering that has been designed to look like wood and traditionally it offered a cheaper alternative to real wood.
In the early days of laminate flooring, the quality was quite poor. Although the idea was that it should mimic hardwood flooring, it was very easy to tell them apart by look and feel. In more recent years the quality of laminate flooring has significantly increased. With reputable manufacturers investing in the design and production of their laminate flooring products. Someone may easily mistake good quality laminate flooring for a wooden floor. However, laminate flooring does not contain any real wood at all. Each plank is made up of various synthetic layers and topped with a photograph of wood (or stone). The top surface of the floor is water resistant so can cope with the occasional spill or splash. Some types of laminate flooring are even waterproof.
LVT (Luxury vinyl tile)
Products like Amtico and Karndean and constantly becoming more and more popular, and we are experts in the LVT market – residentially and commercially, we have been installing these products throughout the UK and we know the importance of the prep work required for these hard wearing, extremely durable and easy to maintain floors. LVT is available is wood effect, but also in stone, tile and marble and can feature inlays and design strips to really set the flooring off.
